SLIMED

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Last updated: June 2025

Slimed is a game built on trust, playfulness, and real human connection. These Community Guidelines exist to make sure every person who receives a Slimed beacon — and everyone who sends one — has a good experience. They apply to everything you do in the app: the photos you post, the messages you write, and the way you use the physical beacon.

These guidelines sit alongside our End User Licence Agreement (EULA), which is the legally binding document. If there is any inconsistency between these guidelines and the EULA, the EULA prevails. Violating these guidelines may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent banning from Slimed.

1. The Spirit of Slimed

The game works because people play it with good intentions. Someone trusted you enough to slip a beacon into your world. Honour that. When you add to the beacon's story — through a photo, a message, or by passing it on — you're contributing to something that others will see and feel.

We want Slimed to be:

• Playful and surprising, not unsettling or cruel
• A genuine way to connect with people you know or are getting to know
• Something anyone in the chain can look back on with a smile

2. Photos

2.1 What's welcome

• Candid moments, funny situations, creative compositions
• Landscapes, objects, food, art — anything that tells a story
• Photos of people who have clearly consented to being photographed
• Blurry, imperfect, or spontaneous shots — this is not Instagram
2.2 What's not allowed

You must not upload photos that:

• Are sexually explicit, nude, or contain sexual acts
• Depict real or simulated violence, gore, or self-harm
• Show a person without their reasonable consent — particularly in private settings
• Depict minors in any inappropriate, sexualised, or exploitative context
• Contain hate symbols, extremist imagery, or content designed to intimidate
• Are designed to humiliate, embarrass, or degrade a specific person
• Infringe the copyright or intellectual property of another person or organisation

3. Messages

3.1 What's welcome

• Personal notes, inside jokes, friendly greetings
• Stories about where you found the beacon or how you're passing it on
• Encouragement, warmth, and genuine connection
• Creative writing, poetry, or anything that adds to the chain's character
3.2 What's not allowed

You must not write messages that:

• Threaten, harass, bully, or intimidate any person
• Are sexually explicit or solicit sexual contact
• Are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory
• Reveal personal information about another person without their consent (including full name, address, phone number, workplace, or relationship details)
• Constitute spam, advertising, or promotional material
• Encourage illegal activity
• Are designed to cause distress to a specific person in the chain

4. Using the Beacon

The physical Slimed beacon is central to the game, and how you use it matters just as much as what you post in the app.

4.1 Consent and context

• The game is designed to be played with people who know you, or within communities where this kind of playful interaction is welcome and expected
• You should only place the beacon on or among someone's belongings in a context where a reasonable person would accept it in good humour — think a friend's bag, a housemate's shelf, a colleague's desk
• Do not place the beacon on strangers without any prior social context or reasonable expectation of goodwill
• Do not use the beacon as a tool for actual surveillance, stalking, or monitoring of any person's movements
4.2 Physical safety

• Do not place the beacon in a way that could cause physical harm or damage to property
• Do not place the beacon in vehicles, on infrastructure, or in any location where its discovery could cause alarm or be mistaken for something dangerous
• Do not conceal the beacon in a way that prevents it from ever being found — the whole point is discovery
4.3 Respect for spaces

• Do not place the beacon in workplaces, schools, or other formal environments without appropriate permission
• Do not place the beacon in a way that would constitute trespass or any unlawful act

5. Respect for Others in the Chain

Every beacon has a chain of people who have touched it. All of them can see what you post. Keep that in mind.

• Do not target, call out, or attempt to identify specific people in the chain in a negative way
• Do not use the chain as a vehicle to settle personal disputes or send hostile messages to someone you know
• If someone in the chain has blocked you or asked not to be contacted, respect that

6. Privacy

• Do not post photos that reveal someone's home address, workplace, or daily routine without their consent
• Do not share personal information about other users that they have not chosen to make public
• Location data is collected when you pass the beacon on, and the approximate location is shown as coordinates on a map that other users in the chain can see. This is semi-public within the chain and is disclosed in our EULA and Privacy Policy. Do not attempt to use this data to track, locate, follow, or identify other users, whether inside or outside the app

7. Age and Vulnerable Users

• Slimed is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use Slimed. Do not assist anyone under 18 in creating an account or using the app
• Do not direct sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content at any user
• Be mindful that people of different backgrounds and sensitivities are in the chain. What seems harmless to you may not land the same way for everyone

8. Reporting and Enforcement

8.1 How to report

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these guidelines, use the in-app report button. Reports are reviewed by our team. For urgent matters involving illegal content or imminent safety risks, email us directly at [email protected].

8.2 What happens when you report

When a report is submitted:

• We will review the reported content against these guidelines and our EULA
• We may remove content, issue a warning, suspend an account, or permanently ban a user depending on the severity and pattern of behaviour
• For serious matters — including content that may constitute a criminal offence — we may refer the matter to relevant authorities or the eSafety Commissioner
• We will not always be able to tell you the outcome of a report, but we take all reports seriously
8.3 Serious and illegal content

Some content requires us to act immediately and without warning, including:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — we are required by law to report this to the Australian Federal Police and the eSafety Commissioner
• Credible threats of violence against a specific person
• Content that constitutes stalking or harassment under Australian law
If you encounter content of this nature, report it in-app and, if you believe there is immediate danger, contact emergency services (000 in Australia).

8.4 Appeals

If your content is removed or your account is suspended and you believe this was in error, you may contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Content Appeal" and we will review your case.

9. Consequences of Violations

Depending on the nature and severity of a violation, we may take the following actions:

• Remove the offending content
• Issue a formal warning to your account
• Temporarily suspend your account
• Permanently ban your account from Slimed
• Where required by law or where we determine it is appropriate, report the matter to law enforcement or the eSafety Commissioner
Serious or repeated violations will result in permanent bans. We do not offer warnings before acting on reports of CSAM, credible threats of violence, or stalking.

10. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in the app, community feedback, or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of Slimed after any such update constitutes your acceptance of the revised guidelines.
